An Update On Sally Port Magazine
Sally Port Magazine’s July 2025 issue had marvelous stories from inspiring authors. It also had some tech problems, things that irritated our readers and us.
The back-end software we chose had great promise. It gave us features we really wanted. But… It turns out there are issues with customer feel and customer service.
What’s the point of cool page-turns if our customers are having trouble accessing the issue and our team isn’t getting the answers we need from the vendor?
It’s a frustration to our readers and to our team. So, we’re doing something about it. We are moving to a new platform, which should make it easier for you to access and read Sally Port Magazine.
Beginning with the October 2025 issue, we will be moving to Weightless Books.
What does this mean for you?
As readers:
You will be able to subscribe and/or purchase individual issues on Weightless Books in PDF and ebook format on a highly stable platform with better customer support.
We are currently investigating the process of moving continuing subscriptions to Weightless Books and will follow up with an email about how the process will work closer to the release of the October issue.
As authors:
As authors, there’s no downside. The submission and selection process isn’t changing. The new system means that the team on our end is less stressed and easier to deal with. Readers will (hopefully) be happier and receive your stuff better.
As professional creators:
It’s an example of work on the back end. Yes, mistakes will happen. How you deal with them is far more important, and more practical, than trying to avoid the unavoidable.
